Sunday School and Christian Education

Children are the heart of our church. We have a warm and welcoming church and Sunday School, which meets after the Children’s Time during Sunday Morning Worship. Prior to worship, at 9:40 am, the children meet with our Children’s Choir Director and the children sing every other week during the early part of worship.

Our Sunday School is for children ages 3-grade six. Our youth are involved in worship activities, helping with Sunday School and participating in the life of the church.

In addition to our regular Sunday School, we have a number of other activities and opportunities for participation. Children are encouraged to help in special services, to serve as acolytes and cross bearers. They also help in our worship services as readers and in other special events, such as the Christmas Pageant and the Children’s Day Service. They participate in all of our special services, ranging from The Hanging of the Greens to World Wide Communion to Christmas Eve to Easter and others.

In addition, we have a Spring Fling and Fall Festival for the children and they also participate in a service for our local nursing home. One of our biggest ventures is our week-long community based VBS which involves over 120 people, an event which is well received in our community.

Children are an integral part of our church family at First United Presbyterian Church of Sodus and we believe as the Psalmist says:

“Children are a blessing and a gift from God.” (Psalm 127:3)
